Sarah + Sean: A Kokomo Wedding

Sarah and Sean originally met while playing beach volleyball, and have been smiling and nurturing their playful relationship every since. I was thrilled when they contacted me to be their Kokomo Wedding Photographer for their March 2019 wedding. If I had to use one word to describe Sarah and Sean, I would say they are joyful. Their smiles are infectious and were present on their faces at every single moment of their special wedding day. Their group of friends were all very tight knit and were playing and dancing while getting ready. Everyone joked with Sarah and Sean all day that they got married to one day make their own little beach volleyball team. They had inside jokes and it was all around adorable to witness and document.

They got married at their church in Kokomo and decided that they wanted an intimate first look before their ceremony. Sarah’s mom and sister had the patience and grace to painstakingly button every single one of Sarah’s dress buttons, and gave her the final finishing touches before she went to meet her future groom.

When the two of them saw each other, there wasn’t a dry eye around. I was crying behind my camera! They both excitedly jumped up and down and squealed, and Sarah instantly burst into tears, and dabbed away her tears with his mission to save her makeup, and then, my favorite part, Sean stopped and prayed over the two of them. After they exchanged admirations, they scheduled a private communion with their officiant, so the two of them could exchange this special religious tradition, and also have it be private and special as they welcomed Christ into their new marriage together. God is an important person in their relationship, and I appreciated how firm and strong their belief in Him is and how they incorporated it many times throughout their festivities.

Their colors were silver and blush. The bridesmaid dresses coordinated perfectly with the muted colors, and worked so well with the surrounding season. We lucked out and had a beautiful spring day with sunny weather, and the florals really tied everything nicely together.

Their ceremony was in the chapel, and it had lovely lighting with big open windows, and was very cozy inside. We spent most of the day on the church grounds doing portraits, and it worked perfectly because it’s so quaint and picturesque.

Their reception was at Celebrations banquet hall. It was Sean’s brother’s birthdays (they are twins) and everything paused inside the reception while the room sang happy birthday to them. I could tell that their family and friends really meant the world to them.

Also, one of the most unique things about their reception was instead of having a cake they had ice cream cones! They love Ice Cream and so they incorporated it into their reception which was super fun!
